Team Information and History

The Beacon School's small and humble beginnings date back to 1993, when the school was comprised of just a small handful of faculty, staff, and students. The school grew rapidly in reputation and size, and soon we were a flourishing and established institution on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. With the growth came a full-fledged athletic program (via PSAL), and soon, the demand for some sort of running team as well. 2001 was the first official year of the cross country and track & field teams, and since then the teams' combined annual membership has increased from just 15 students to over 100 (as of 2009).

Like all the other athletic programs here at Beacon, we are confined to limited space and resources, and hence cannot boast of lavish state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Nevertheless, our runners embody a sense of commitment and diligence that is second to none, resulting in highly competitive and successful squads year in and year out. (Many of our accomplishments can be viewed through this team website).

...and we are still improving every year. From Central Park to van Cortlandt Park, from the track at the Armory to the stadium at Icahn--from Riverside to Riverbank--catch us in action at practices and meets, we'll be sure not to disappoint, and contact us NOW to join the excitement!
